Which purifier for your room?
The number that matters is clean air delivery rate, not the room size printed on the box — that figure usually assumes the unit runs at maximum, which is loud enough that nobody does. Size up one step if you want to run it quietly at night.
- Ask about the filter cost before you buy. A cheap purifier with an expensive annual filter costs more over three years than the reverse, and nobody mentions it at the counter.
- A HEPA filter handles particulates. Odours and gases need activated carbon, which is a separate layer — check it is actually there rather than assumed.
- It only works with the doors and windows shut, which makes it the opposite of an air cooler. If you need both, they belong in different rooms.
