Before you buy
Storage or instant, and what size?
The choice is really about how much hot water you need at once. A storage heater fills a tank and holds it; an instant heats only what passes through. Buy a tank too small and you finish a shower cold — buy one too large and you pay to keep water hot that nobody uses.
- Check the pressure rating against your building. A high-rise with an overhead tank needs a heater rated for that head; a standard unit will leak within a season.
- A 5 star heater costs more and saves on standing loss, which only matters if the heater is on for hours a day. For a bathroom used twice a day, it rarely pays back.
- Ask us about the fixings before delivery. A heater on a plasterboard or hollow-block wall needs different anchors, and that is not something to discover on the day.
